DX9 games run faster on Vista than XP

What’s interesting is that Yerli told us that if you have Windows Vista and an older DirectX 9 card, you should still see better performance with Windows Vista than Windows XP, even if the hardware remains unchanged. “DirectX 9 on Vista will run faster throughout due to the better device driver model…”

US government sues Missouri officials to squash state’s subpoena of AT&T.

The federal government wants to be able to know everything you do, but they don’t want anyone to know about their actions. They are willing to argue both sides of a case to prevent citizens and states from finding out what AT&T has been doing in those secret rooms.

Young Coders Summer on Google

The program, now in its second summer, pays 630 students to stay home and code over the summer, working under mentors that include more than a few rock stars of the open-source world. Some students admitted experiencing trepidation knowing their work would be viewed by big names in open source or even inventors of programming languages.

Document Management Tool for Mac OS X using tagging, similar to iPhoto. It is excellent document organizer, with integrated scanning, tagging and thumbnail zoom. Every computer has loads of PDF files, probably scattered all over your hard disk. Use kip to search, view and manage all these documents in one convenient place.

Activision Buys Mac Game Developer

“Game publisher Activision Inc. on Wednesday announced it has acquired Beenox Inc., a game developer based in Quebec, Canada. Beenox is best known to Mac gamers as a developer of Mac game conversions—a frequent collaborator with Aspyr Media Inc. that has also worked with MacSoft and THQ.”
