Here are a few things adding to Ten Steps for a better iTunes experience. These would be Mac specific because they use apple script, but are very very useful in maintaining your itunes library.
All of these scripts go in your iTunes Scripts folder. Located at Home > Library > iTunes Tracks without artwork : This will create a play list with all tracks that do not have album art assigned to them (Your imported CD’s etc.) Now that you have a playlist with tracks missing album art, you can seek out and add art in a few diffrent ways. One way is to use Fetch-Art for Itunes. This way is semi automated, it will use the ID3 tag information from the track and seek out cover art from amazon.com. If you have proper tag information this will work about 90% of the time. The other option is to use Find Album Artwork with Google. This one will use the Artist and Album Title to search google images, once you find the image you want to use, you right click on get info for the track(s) and drag the album artwork to the empty artwork square in itunes.
