Microsoft has finally released a UB Messenger for Mac. New features include spell-check support, custom emoticons, and the ability to display what you’re listening to in iTunes.

IBM files for summary judgment against SCO

All has been quiet on the SCO v. IBM front lately, but that may be about to change. Yesterday, IBM filed several motions for summary judgment covering all of SCO’s claims and two IBM counterclaims. SCO countered by filing a single motion for partial summary judgment on four of IBM’s counterclaims

Apple is showcasing the next version of the .Mac webmail service. .Mac’s webmail has been stuck in 2002 for about 4 years now, so an update will be very nice.

Scalix is sneaking Linux in through the corporate mailbox

Scalix recently announced that its enterprise email platform will be going open source. Right now preparations are being made, the bugtracking system and code repository are being set into place, and code is being cleaned.

Apple’s Mac OS Market Share Rises 24 Percent Year Over Year

Here’s the real story folks, Apple’s market share is not declining. In fact, it’s on a dramtic upswing. In fact, it’s up 24.4 percent year-over-year from August 2005 to August 2006.

AMD will sell processors to Apple in future, CEO Ruiz says

OpenBSD 4.0: 10 years of OpenBSD!

Pre-orders for OpenBSD 4.0 are now available in the online store. Five architectures on three CDs in a soft-shell DVD case. This new release adds support for many wireless chipsets, as well as support for the UltraSPARC III, and much, much more. OpenBSD 4.0’s song has yet to be released.

Apple to Update MacBook & MacBook Pro in Time For Holidays

A Chip That Can Transfer Data Using Laser Light

Researchers plan to announce on Monday that they have created a silicon-based chip that can produce laser beams. The advance will make it possible to use laser light rather than wires to send data between chips, removing the most significant bottleneck in computer design.
